Comité européen de normalisation has reviewed EN250 been reviewed in 2014. The main changes are in relation to Alternative Air sources and cold water diving, new summarised below with the new designations:

EN250:2014

If diving deeper than 30m or water temperature then the alternate gas source should be independent from a redundant system. This is achieved by a pony cylinder, twinset or at least an H or Y valve on a high capacity single cylinder.

EN250A

First stages which are suitable for connecting an octopus type of alternative source are marked with an suffixed “A”

EN250A >10°C

First Stages that are not designed for cold water use are suffixed “>10°C” whereas first Stages that are maybe suffixed with the lowest operating temperature.

All changes will be phased in by manufacturers as new models are released or revised.
